Hong Kong Animation
The Hong Kong Wetland Park comprises a 10,000 square meter large visitor centre, Wetland Interactive World, and a 60-hectare Wetland Reserve.
For the first stage of this million pound project we created a large scale immersive animating area which encouraged the user to become part of the landscape. A tilted panel above representing the habitat on land, and another separate below representing the animal life under the water line. A touchscreen allowed the user to control which type of habitat to view and how dense the signs of life would become in areas specified on a map.
My role was to create almost a hundred separate animations. Each one representing a different animal or plant. These were all created using rotoscoping from video footage and treating to change the style of the frames to look more like illustrations.
These animals randomly appear and some also move between the two panels, for example a kingfisher diving to get its prey.
